I like the way your gloves float. Your competitors are using pure silicone in various models don’t seem to think it’s important that things should float when you’re swimming with them. I also love the way the glove holds my hand in the correct position an orientation of the fingers spread with no real effort and still are flexible enough that I can close my hand if I wish to. I was given these as a gift for a trip to Maui several years ago. I was skeptical at first, but that changed immediately. These gloves give you a dramatic increase in the power from your arms as you're in the water. This accomplished two things. First, safety. I love swimming in the ocean, in Maui. South Maui to be exact. Big waves, lots of fun, but unpredictable rip currents, and these will occur suddenly. My Darkfin gloves give me the power to handle stronger currents with confidence and ease. I work less, and get far more power with each stroke. I've gone diving with them, and they give my arms almost as much power as my legs do with my flippers. Second, pure fun. These change how you move in the water. In salt water, it becomes possible (for me, anyway) for me to "sit" in the water, move my arms back and forth at a slight angle, and they willprovide enough propulsion to stay on top of the water. Moving through the water, and changing directions is a breeze, and you begin to feel like a fish might. I LOVE these gloves, I won't go in the ocean without them anymore, and have bought them as gifts for others. I'm on my 3rd pair now. One note, neoprene will begin to break down after several years, but that's a fact of life, and is a quirk of the neoprene itself. Store them by putting baby powder, or talc powder in them, along with a paper towel to prevent sticking. And while not necessary, the silicone spray helps a lot if they're not already wet. I recently purchased a pair of the Darkfin gloves. All I can say is “wow”. I have never enjoyed swimming in a pool so much. It like gliding on air. I swim for exercise on a daily basis and these gloves make you want to come back again for more. Thank you again.
great design too thin for thermal barrier .
I wore these gloves in Folsom lake , Monterey, and Lake Tahoe (10 dives total)and they are very good if they were 3 mil instead of 1 mill they would have good thermal . I wore a dry suit for all the dives and my hands were the coldest part of my body . Yes I wore a hood. If they were 3 mil I would buy these all day and tell all my dive friends. The fit was good use the chart and you can't miss.
Super power gloves :-)) !
I am so happy with my purchase. I have been using the gloves for 4 months now and they provide protection and speed. I feel like superwoman when I slip them on and start swimming !! They can be a little difficult to put on a the beginning, I was especially scared of ripping them but I know now they are sturdy and I slide them on and off in the water very easily.

Great glove to enhance being in water
I ordered these and while I don't live near the ocean or a large lake I do have a pool. Talk about making swimming more interesting! They're great entertainment and overall just make the experience of being in the water new again. I happened to order a size too small and the company really showed great customer service in working with me to get me the correct size! I'd very much give them 5 stars for how the showed each customer is valued!
wonderful product
I bought these to add to my post work out swim routine. very fun in the pool. the sizing chart is a bit tricky, i would suggest ordering smaller than you would think. i measured my hands based on the chart and the ones i received are a bit large. a quick email solved it though! the customer support was great. overall i am happy with my purchase, and you will be too!

Great Product for a Great Cause
I had the pleasure of using Darkfin's webbed gloves during training to become an adaptive scuba instructor and I was blown away by the superiority of their material, design, and functionality. I have used webbed gloves in previous trainings, but they were not Darkfin products and far inferior. There is no better option for divers with special needs and I will forever promote, recommend, and use Darkfin's webbed glove offerings with my students. Greatly enhanced performance!
These fit perfect and work fantastic. I am recovering from a spinal fusion and nerve issues inhabit using my legs when swimming. Unfortunately swimming is also the only exercise I can do right now. I purchased the gloves about a month ago and have not been disappointed. The quality is excellent and they create just the right amount of arm resistance while swimming. They also add excellent forward propulsion which makes up for having to drag the dead weight of my nonfunctuonal legs behind me. I would have given 5 stars but they were a little on the pricey side. Although don't get me wrong. The quality clearly exceeds other swim gloves out there.

Love for surfing!!!
I absolutely adore these gloves, mine are fingertip open, I surfed one day without them and what a difference they made wearing them all day. My paddling and timing catching waves was made much easier with the gloves!! I measured a woman’s large but actually fit in a woman’s medium. I did purchase the surf booties as well, I only needed them once and they were beneficial overall!

I went snorkeling/freediving with these and they are excellent. There is a slight learning curb but once you have them figured out, there is no turning back to webless swimming.
Put them on in the water, let them flip inside-out when removing and simply blow into them to put them right-side-out. Always wash your gear with fresh water before storage to remove micro organisms and corrosive salt/minerals.

Swimming Webbed gloves
After trying some webs online ,which seemed pretty heavy duty yet failed unfortunately short on elasticity.
I ended up cutting them in half and made them toeweb...they work great
Than I found Darkfin gloves.
It Evolved the concept of swimming for me and took "aqua men" to new frontiers.
I propel like a torpedo with these gloves .highly improved my speed ,catching angels agility, higher volume pulls as great shoulders and chest workout.
Contacted Darkfin Regarding webtoes fin bootee and if it could be possible to customize sonething close to try them out.
They were very helpful and open minded about it and might make a bootee with webbed toe for me for a tryout.
Anyway
Bottom line if you are a swimmer and not using Darkfin gloves you are not experiencing the joy yet of what swimming really means.
This artwork glove and design works great and I highly recommend it.
If Darkfin end up making the webtoes bootee,i will leave and update the experience and the result.

Great gloves
My husband liked these gloves a lot, they were easy to put on in water and made quite a workout out of casual swimming in a pool. He could even swim without kicking feet or helping with legs. He could still use fingers for fixing glasses and handling objects as the tips are not sewed into the webbed part and you don’t lose the dexterity. Will be taking them on our next snorkeling trip.

Absolutely perfect. Exactly what I have wanted for years. The perfect blend... they keep my fingers warm and are great for training. Super flexible so I can swim with or without using the webbing simply by opening or closing my hands. I have Raynauds syndrome so struggle to keep my fingers warm enough when swimming long distances or staying in the water for a length of time. Now, I can just keep swimming. Thank you, Darkfin.
Easy to swim with and great customer service
The gloves work as advertised. The glove size guide worked well for me. They fit well. The gloves are very easy to swim with, without the need to alter your stroke. I cannot comment on durability yet. I swam for many years with paddles, and the gloves provide an equivalent workout, but I think I prefer the gloves. If you swim long enough, it is nice to introduce variation in your routine and the gloves provide a change that I think most swimmer would enjoy. I initially ordered the wrong size, and the company went out of its way to replace them. I will certainly buy more when these go bust.

Perfect for resistance exercises for me.
I use these flexible rubber webbed gloves to do various arm and shoulder resistance exercises three days a week. They also provide excellent drag when I'm water walking. I see swimmers in the lap pool using a variety of cloth gloves webbed to give them more stroke power as they swim, but what they use can't hold a candle to "Darkfin"
Sizing - not many companies provide so many sizes.
Their sizing chart is actually very accurate if you get it right. If you are not sure about the size, you may want to consider a smaller size (or buy both sizes if money is not an issue, they all feel slightly different).
Ultimately, it boils down to personal preference.
Tight fitting gloves increase dexterity and will keep you warmer than the looser ones.
MUST HAVE for 1-legged Swimmer!
Frequent Flyer of these gloves...my 3rd (maybe 4th) pair. I'm a right Above The Knee (AKA) amputee and LOVE the water. With these gloves, and 1 fin, no problem keeping up with other divers. Lap swim is now practical and enjoyable. I dropped a star only because I wear them out doing pool maintenance; to be fair...they're not work gloves. If used ONLY as intended, AWESOME!
It doesn’t get much better than this!
First thing’s first: The BEST customer experience one can have. After receiving my order for a women’s M (based on the chart), I realized the fit was probably not as tight as it should be. I was in a time crunch before leaving on a flight days later after a holiday weekend, and decided to call the number on the website. Fancy my luck these guys work a few states away. I spoke with the owner directly, explained the fit issue and my time dilemma and inquired about the booties they make.
We got on to quite the chat, and after learning I was a photographer and would be in Indonesia surfing and taking photos in the surf, not only did he sort out my personal order, but he set me up and upgraded my shipping to make sure I got everything I needed in time.
Second order of business: Quality. Usually when you learn of a product being biodegradable you tend to get flimsy quality products. Not these. These are well-made, well-sealed, durable, sturdy, and from my experience easy to take on and off without any hang-ups. They even make a spray for those who struggle to get the hang of it. I’m moving almost all of my purchasing power into the realm of conscious consumerism. This means choosing small businesses who create in small batches, have minimal waste and a minimal footprint, use renewable or recycleable materials, pay living wages, give back to the community in some way, and generally speaking present themselves as good humans. Darkfin fits the bill over and over. You can choose at checkout to enter a code and a NICE percentage of your purchase went directly to the building of a well in Africa. I am sure when that mission is complete, it will be another humanitarian or environmental cause.
The only issue I have right now is the vacuuum packing of the gloves in plastic. Unless this is a plant-plastic (Which it could be), it seems rather ironic to have a biodegradable product in a non-biodegradable package.
Third: Performance. Now at this stage, I have used these out in the ocean several times and LOVE LOVE LOVE them with all my heart. Admittedly, I love the fit of the booties better and never ever want to NOT have these on in the reef zones. Turns out, My hands that measured a Womens M needed a Youth L! I’m excited to take these out for some photos along the way, but at this stage they havent made it out into critical conditions or during photographic useage. I WILL update this review throughout my time here as well as navigating others to do the same. Photos on the way in a few months time as my work comes into play...And I’m super stoked to test them both out as a surfer and see what kind of paddle power I pick up!
So if you even have to ask yourself, “should I buy these now or put them in my cart for later?” (Which is what I did years ago)....trust me. DONT. Buy them now, and thank yourself immediately after. And then thank these guys for helping you look more like a seal in the line-up, or a lagoon creature on your next adventure....

Slightly tricky to fit properly, but adds a lot more power to your stroke
I usually wear a size large in gloves and they’ll fit either perfectly or sometimes the pinky of thumb will be slightly short. Based on measurements, I initially tried the medium large dark fins based on the measurements provided, and they felt VERY tight and the fingers were a bit too short, plus it arrived with 2-3 pin-sized holes which I was concerned might tear with use, so I returned them. It was so tight that when I reordered I got an xl. The xl fit my wrist much more comfortably and the fingers are a good length, but they fingers are very large. Made for someone with bratwurst fingers. A large *might* fit me better, but they are good enough as is that it’s not worth returning for a new pair and potentially having them be less comfortable. That said, they definitely make your strokes a lot more power-efficient, making swimming upstream and against current a lot easier.

I just got my darkfin gloves, and breaking them in so I'm ready for snorkeling in the coming month. They are really cool looking, but also the design makes swimming easier while maintaining full articulation of the fingers and hand movements.

I bought these specifically to recover from being in a hit and run accident and the subsequent surgery on my shoulder. I researched and found that I could use these types of ‘hand webbing fins’ (with approval of my doctor) as a good physical therapy way to help re-strengthen my shoulders. These provide the resistance I have been looking for. I do laps (25yard) and so far have gone from 40 to 75 in three weeks, carefully building up the strength. I feel I can push further with them!
- Use only a dab, and I really mean a dab, of silicone lube on the back of your hand to slip these on once in the water. Any more and you’ll have water pockets and slipping.
- Get a size smaller. You want the wrist to be tight. (But not tourniquet-y)

I'm not used to using webbed gloves as a swimmer, but they are pretty awesome and takes just short time to get used to. I love the design of these gloves, very cool aesthetic!
Great quality and customer service but make sure to follow the sizing chart
I bought these for surfing the New England coast. A lot of the waves break fast and having the extra speed is critical to catching a lot of them. The gloves surprised me with the quality and overall thickness. It takes some practice to get in and out of them but they're easier to get off than my winter wetsuit! If you have thicker hands press your hand flat with some additional pressure against the sizing chart. I originally ordered a ML size in Mens but had to move up to a Large and if I had followed the previous step I would have saved a step. Customer service is great with fast responses and don't forget to give them plenty of detail if you have any issues. They also sell Bandz available on their website which can be used to seal the wrists from water better if they are a bit too large. (I have meatier hands but smaller wrists so will need to go that route) I'll update on durability of the gloves after a season with them but do not expect any issues.

Added power to your stride and length performance
Was not sure at first but I could immediately see the difference they made after just a few lengths , I gained strength and power over my normal performance, these gloves for sure were to make a difference to my performance, only advice I would give is to get the right size, I went for medium to large when on reflection I should have got large or bigger.

Followed the measurement guide and the gloves are a perfect fit. Tight fitting but simple to get on either dry, using talc, or wet. Easy to peel off. Well made; one piece, no seams. Mine are for kayaking - excellent power for hand rolling.
Fun to swim with/ great customer service
These gloves totally improved my stroke swimming. I got them to help protect my finger tips from some effects of chemotherapy from hurting when I swam. The materials are natural but powerful in the water. I measured too Big originally and DarkFin got back to me immediately how to arrange for a better fit. It’s a very responsive company
These are Great!
I'm living on Maui right now, so there are soooo many water activities where I get to use these gloves! They are great for snorkeling/freediving as they allow me to get to the surface super fast with only acouple pulls. Definitely makes me feel more comfortable going deeper and staying down longer. You immediately feel the speed within the first couple strokes with them on. I feel like a fish with these and my fins on! I have also been using them for surfing. I catch way more waves with them as they give you that extra propulsion to get up to wave speed fast. Also they make getting out past the break faster, which is nice as it's no fun to hangout there! As far as sizing help I usually always wear a medium in nitrile gloves, and mechanics gloves. I ordered the ML size and they work great. Get them wet and they are pretty easy to get on. If you like playing in the water I can only imagine you will love these!
Aquaman look out
My wife & kids made fun of me when I bought these. Possibly because I tested them out in our pool first. We went snorkeling in the Bahama's and everyone wanted to steal them from me because they worked so well. Tip: to easily remove them when wet, blow into the edge by your wrist and inflate them like a balloon. They pop right off!

Bought these as a gift for my boyfriend. They fit him perfectly! He loves them and can't wait for summer to come around. Although his were big on me, he let me try them out in our cold pool in the middle of winter and they seriously insulate! The only problem I have with these types of product is whether to go for xl, or l. The glove size charts are really helpful however and these ones fit almost perfectly. Only used them once so I may get to adjust the fit a bit more. However all that said I think they're great, far better than pads. As long as you know to put talc, or soap into them to fit them, once they're on you know that your time in the pool swimming will be completely different than otherwise. They make a real difference to speed and resistance and help enormously with movement in the water. I wouldn't be without them.
Training gloves
Tried a couple of others makes, but these have best web effect. They are a second skin so putting on and taking off takes technique.
I tried the talc option, but found if you fill gloves with water and then push your hand in underwater, the water within acts as lubricant as it tries to escape.
I purchased XL as have long fingers, large would have been better as XL assumes your fingers are thicker, but in saying that the slightly looser fit feels comfortable and does not reduce the effectiveness.
If going to use snorkelling or diving (other than tropical regions) use another make as these are thin strong rubber and offer no insulation.
Oh, and there design allows you to use your fingers as normal.

Added power to your stride and length performance
Was not sure at first but I could immediately see the difference they made after just a few lengths , I gained strength and power over my normal performance, these gloves for sure were to make a difference to my performance, only advice I would give is to get the right size, I went for medium to large when on reflection I should have got large or bigger.

These gloves are fantastic. Get so much more from each stroke. Whether you're surface swimming, diving/surfacing or want to make quick turns or keep at a certain depth these will help enormously (you can even propel yourself backward). I purchased these for snorkeling & they are an essential in my kit bag. Great quality & very easy to get on & off once they & your hands are wet. Top marks.

Followed the measurement guide and the gloves are a perfect fit. Tight fitting but simple to get on either dry, using talc, or wet. Easy to peel off. Well made; one piece, no seams. Mine are for kayaking - excellent power for hand rolling.

Let's talk about something cool! Darkfin gloves, I got to test 3 styles out on Sunday, July 15th at Alexander Springs, Florida (original webbed, short fin, and durafin). Here's my thoughts; all models of darkfin webbed gloves, great for paddling, swimming, snorkeling and diving. Durafin style kept my little fingers warm and toasty in the 72° water. These are awesome for moving in shallows without stirring up silt and sediment. They are made of natural latex rubber and are 100% biodegradable. Super easy to put on and take off when wet, the durafins are a little bit more difficult but with water pretty easy still. I absolutely love them!

Ideal Product for Scuba Diving Using Hands Only
I’m a paraplegic diving instructor and have done thousands of dives using different hand fins. Since I tried the Darkfin Power Gloves 6 years ago, they have become my go to product for swimming when scuba diving. I have not experienced gloves that can give such power through the water and enable me to have the dexterity to grade with a pencil underwater when teaching pros dive courses and even assemble my equipment whilst wearing the gloves. I had polio as an infant and have no use of my lower extremities. Wow! Just what I need a well-made glove that significantly increased my workout. End of story. Right? Not quite. The first pair I bought blew out at the thumb and index finger seam. Same with the second. When I contacted the company they sent me a replacement. After that, I figured out that if I reversed the gloves putting the webbing on the inside rather than the outside the gloves lasted forever. Reversing the gloves took the pressure off the seam and solved the problem. But that's not the end of the story. After posting my review and telling others about my find I had over 70 people who indicated that the review was helpful. When the folks at Darkfin saw that response they contacted me to say that based on that response they were prototyping a new design with the web in front and. would I be available to try the new design? I got the new gloves a few weeks ago and have been using them a lot. Needless to say, they nailed it. The new design is a significant improvement over the "web behind" model. But even that isn't the whole story. This isn't a story about the new design as much as it is a story about outrageously great customer service. What more could a customer possibly ask for? A company that stands behind their product and constantly strive for improved products is exactly the kind of company I want to do business with. Money well spent. I know you will agree.
powerful stroke and strong shoulders
I bought my first pair in 1994 they were great! I decided to look for something similar and to my surprise I found the same company making a much improved product.
These are great for increasing your paddle area by 100%. The power is noticeable both during paddling and after when muscles ache from the additional stress. They will build your shoulders and improve your stroke power.
I use them for long boarding but they are great for any surfing, prone paddling and a important part of an intense swimming workout.
my hands are not that big, but large was too small for me. I use extra large and there is a XXL size available. They need to be wet or powdered to get on and there is a slight cramping sensation at first but I hardly notice them during a 2 hour session.
I have taken some grief, being called a fish and teased in the lineup, but who laughs last when I drop in first or paddle back out faster?
Run BIG!
I wear a size 8 glove and got the Womens Large, but it was too big. If you get the right size I'm sure they are great, although taking them off is a pain. The sizing chart is a little misleading so be careful and order a size smaller then you expect.
Simple yet brilliant
My hands are the precise measurement for a mens small. However, listening to other reviewres, I ordered the next size down, which is the youth's large. Perfect fit except little finger is slightly short. Perhaps that's difference between a youth and a man but I'm glad I dropped a size down, you want these to be snug. I'll just live with it for now but if it aches, I'll just snip the tip of the little finger.
I bought these for scuba diving, not for protection but for improving my manouverability. I've not had the chance to test in that environment but in a pool you can certainly tell the difference. You can also feel it in your shoulder muscles immediately and swimming is so different (in a very positive way)

I love these gloves. I've tried many resistance gloves. These are the most comfortable and durable I've had and would highly recommend them. However, either kids hands are a lot larger than they used to be or my hands are really, really small. Knowing my hands are relatively small, but not unusually so, I opted for the kids large size. To my surprise they were too big. I ordered the kids small (skipped the mediums) and they fit perfectly.

awesome product:) a tiny bit hard to put on (put on while in water is a big help or get the spray lubricant/protector to maintain health) but great arm workout while i'm chilling with kids in pool. Can'e wait to give a go in the ocean. Used them every day in a pool for 3 months and had no issues with falling apart or fading.
First-time user, not a professional swimmer, but liked the Darkfin Webbed Power Gloves.
As advertised, the gloves do give you fewer strokes per pool length. Also as some other reviewers have noted, they add resistance to your stroke and was in a bit of pain by the time I was done with my first workout. Have gotten used to the increased resistance and swim more confidently with them on. Indeed they are hard to put in and far easier to do so underwater. Sizing is key, I happened to use the sizing guide on Darkfin's site and bought the right pair.
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Alright I have to admit to using these gloves for a purpose for which they are not intended...as part of a Halloween costume. Yes, the creature from the black lagoon is not complete without webbed hands. Makes it hard to shake hands, but is fun to watch people try to shake the hand of a real creature. Have been on the Internet so long you could say I am an old hand with the web. See? It works. Also, not that expensive.
Perfect for catching more waves.
These work exactly as intended and are very comfortable, easy to clean, and durable. I frequently swim with these and the power of my strokes are amplified and so is the stress on my chest and arm muscles. It makes for a great workout.
I originally purchased these for better sprinting on a surfboard to catch more waves. In that regard they are perfect and I’m glad I have them.

As a paraplegic I need swim gloves to do any swimming of distance. I've had neoprene swim gloves but they just don't quite cut it. Then I tried a pair of these and was impressed. They take a bit of getting used to for technique, but the resistance you get for the power stroke is very good, and you don't have as much drag on the return which is also very nice. I have rather large hands so I got the largest size they have and they (just) fit. If you're looking for gloves to give you an extra boost, or to give you a better workout, these are pretty darn good!
**Edit 4/17 - I've gone through two pairs of these gloves already, both suffering the same fate. The webbing is not quite thick enough to stand up to the power put through them, and the webbing on both pairs split near the thumb on one glove, the second pair had multiple splits. Leaving the rating at 5 stars. I can't take a full star off for being so hard on the gloves.
Besides which customer service is top notch, they replaced the first pair at no charge (other than my needing to mail the gloves to them). I would still recommend these gloves, but if you are a powerful swimmer like me, you will probably need to join their club (see the paper that comes with the gloves for info) so as to make buying replacements cheaper. I've since moved on to a different set of swim gloves (with it's own set of challenges), but these are superb while they last. I just wish that the manufacturers would use a slightly thicker piece for their webbing layer. If they did that I would go back to using these in a heartbeat.
You gotta think outside the box on these.
OK here's the deal. I love these gloves but it's been a rocky road. The first several pairs blew out early. There's a design flaw. The webbing is on the back of the hand, which means the stress point is between the thumb and fore finger. So the gloves kept ripping at the seam. You would expect that since that is the weakest point in the construction. After noodling on the issue a while it dawned on me that what had to happen was that the stress points had to be protected. I tried several strategies but let's just say keep it simple stupid. I decided to wear the gloves on opposite hands so the webbing is now on the palm side. It takes a little getting used to because the gloves are engineered to be worn on like a glove. Fortunately the material stretches over time and forms to the hand well. Now I have putter 500 miles on the last pair with no sign of seam failure. Previously I was fortunately to get 100 miles on a pair. So if you're going to order these either order a bunch of them or simply wear them on the opposite hand. Enjoy.

they do work you can feel the extra speed and power they give you in the water but they are pretty thin so you have to be gentle with them when you take them off or put them on. also when you paddle water gets stuck in them sometimes

My neice is a little surfer girl, and these are perfect for her. They don't slick up too much when they get wet so she can grip her board really well, but they work really well to tread water. These gloves have the fishes doing double takes!

Not Disapointed
These really worked well. They provided great traction so there was little wasted motion on each paddle stroke. I had great use of my hands wearing them, I didn't feel constrained. They fit well and didn't balloon out by letting water in. It wasn't bad putting them on, maybe a little tough, but they are tough enough to take the tugging.
They do help to propel you through the water
I use these when my Friend and I go out snorkeling in Laguna Beach, Ca. Love the tide pools there. They do help to propel you through the water much easier.

They take a few minutes to put on, but it is well worth the wait. I have found that, when I doing a stroke (such as the breast stroke) in which I need to bring my hands forward, the webbed gloves allow me to clench my hands and reduce resistance. These gloves work my arm muscles into a burn unlike anything I have ever used.
As for the tearing that I have read about: I apply a prodigious amount of talc on the inside, and after a month they show no signs of shredding.
Too large for my hands
Have to send them back. All the other reviews said order a size smaller. I have small hands and could only order size small. I didn't see a size XS or smaller. Haven't sent them back yet because I am waiting for an answer from the company, not to charge me return shipping since the sizing information was incorrect. I put them on easily without wetting them and they were too loose. All the other reviews said they were difficult to get on and fit tightly. You need a tight fit since they will loosen somewhat in water.
They might be OK if they made more sizes to fit and to choose from.

I will not recommend the glove to divers
I purchased the glove for diving however I proved to be quit a challange to pick up items as the Web kept blocking the object. I couldn't hold on to lobsters either because the Web kept getting in the way. I will not recommend the glove to divers. However this is a good training glove or for free divers.
Not great for my cold water surfing application
I guess I didn't read the thickness very carefully in the description but please know that these are fairly thin before pruchaseing. If you are expecting to surf in cold water with these you might want to think twice if you are a temperature wuss like me. I like the idea of this product so I may try the thermal version instead of which I was previously unaware. They honestly feel like dish washing gloves and make a nice whoopee cushion noise on my palms when I make a fist. So these could prove entertaining while waiting in the line up for the next wave. In my opinion the pictures make the gloves look very form fit and sleek and this is somewhat true for the side they show you in the picture. The back side looks much less appealing to me and not what I would imagine from a product with a bad @$$ name like Darkfin. I posted pictures and you can draw your own conclusions. Again love the idea of this product but this particular model did not work well for my needs. Bummer dude...

Great Design
This is my 4th or 5th pair of Darkfin Swim Gloves. I love the design. They really do work better than any other swim glove out there.
I swim two miles a day, five days a week. I'm trying to swim 2,100 miles across the USA, with only 20 miles to go I think I'll make it.
After going through a dozen (or more) pairs of other swim gloves, I switched to Darkfin. My first couple of pairs were amazing. However, it seems like the quality has been dropping. My first pair lasted almost a year. My most recent pair has holes after a few months.
I would still highly recommend the gloves, for the way they work. You'll just have to replace them more often, if you really workout hard.
Awesome while swimming
The gloves are awesome. You are so much faster while swimming and it trains muscles you don't use much. The quality is top and the price reasonable. It's a must have, two thumbs up.
Good glove and ok strap that do the job
I wanted a swimming glove that would keep the harsh chlorine water off of my hands. This glove with the Velcro straps pretty much does that. I do wish the straps had a single buckle so that you could loop the strap through and then reverse direction for pulling tight. The straps have no buckle and require that you wrap around it your wrist and hold one end while pulling the other tight (which is hard to do by yourself). I don't have an idea of how long these gloves will last but they seem to be made fairly sturdy. The glove by itself would be 5 star.

Darkfin Gloves are great for surfing!
I am now into my third pair of Darkfin gloves and quite frankly feel "naked" when I surf without them. They fit well—really snugly—and are very comfortable and flexible, so there's no problems about hanging onto the rails of my board, in fact they give a better grip than bare hands. And they sure help me catch waves—much to the annoyance/admiration of my gloveless surfing mates. Would I recommend them? You bet!

This enables me to put gloves on/ off more easily and still get the benefit of webbing while swimming. These heavy duty ones are needed because the light duties just don't hold up to the rigors of daily exercise

Maintains dexterity - neoprene gloves have none.
Better 'grab' of water and feel of the water than neoprene
Better catch - they slide in, reducing splash/ drag at catch
Increased surface area - when fingers splayed, significantly larger surface area than neoprene
Modulated surface area - when fingers together, surface area is about same as hand
Cons;
Could use a size larger - my middle finger is a bit snug, and not inclined to cut the tip off. (Of the glove . . . )

The gloves met my expectations and I enjoy using them when I go for swims. My hands are pretty small and I struggle to find gloves that fit perfectly. These are no exception, but considering what I would assume is the odd metrics of my hands they are a nice fit. A lot of people turn their heads when I walk by with my awesome gloves. The quality is solid and they haven't come apart after the first season of swimming.

Almost feels like you are a fish
While I am not using them too often lately, I have took them for several swims in the ocean. Scientifically, I can't say if the increase in surface area they provide does increase performance in reality, but they are very durable, and they are really comfortable with swimming and don't restrict your grip too much.
The added layer of insulation works great as well. Outside of the water my hands would feel hot under the sun if wore them for too long, but during a swim session, heat is not much of a concern, in fact it protected my hands from the cold 21 degrees Celsius salty water, won't kill anyone, but still my hands were warmer than the rest of my body. So do wear them when you are about to dive or swim, as the skin on your hands tends to heat up with them on.

This is my second pair of darkfin gloves. I bought the first pair on a whim three years ago, because I was looking for a way to make my swims more challenging. Great purchase! I have used them 3-6 times/week for three years, and only recently wore a little hole in the thumb. Or maybe I snagged it. In any case, this time around, they have women's sizes, which are slightly differently proportioned, and so my replacement gloves are even better than the originals that I loved. I'm so happy I made that impulse buy years ago!

Surfing Gloves for inexperienced surfer
These gloves have made a big difference to my ability to get on a wave. I can now confidently get in the line up and take waves as I can now paddle onto many more waves. I am a beginner and was having lots of trouble with having the strength and endurance of paddling while surfing. The gloves work a treat if you are game to look different.

Darkfin Gloves
I use them for surfing in the Atlantic and Pacific. If a clean up set comes I am usually the only one that made it outside in time. In white water the traction I get with these gloves helps me out of the pit with the least beating.

I'm using the darkfingloves for swimming, submerse swimming, aqua jogging, and surfing, and works perfectly,the traction is incredible, gives a powerful paddle and increase my velocity, fits perfectly, I don't think is hard to put it on ,( i put it on inside the water), the grip is great, i can use the touch screen on my phone .

For swimming, I'm swimming like a dolphin in harmony with the ocean, fast, smooth, and in a submerse swimming it's incredible, use fins with this gloves and would be a fish mix with a dolphin.

I wasnt sure what to think about the gloves when i first saw them on the internet. I wanted to use them for surfing. A year ago I had surgery in my shoulder so I had trouble with paddling whenever I surfed. I needed to build up some muscles as well. I bought the normal Darkfin glove and also the thermo ones. They fit perfectly and they feel good to have on. You don't really think too much about that you are wearing them. I was worried about whether it was possible to grab the rails on the surfboard, but no problem there. I went to try them and I actually caught multiple waves easily. Of course it's hard for the shoulder still, cause I need to build up the muscles again. Before I was working out every time I was paddling but without catching many waves -now the workout is more effective because of the resistance in the water is bigger when wearing the gloves and I catch waves so I also have fun. These gloves are super super awesome!

Have used Darkfin gloves for years. These are, by far, the best on the market for design, flexibility, paddling power & the ability to do other stuff while still wearing the gloves (putting on the leash, writing, eating, whatever).
Awesome Accessory for Diving
2nd pair I've bought - I bought mine 5 years ago and still use them. The 2nd pair was for my girlfriend who can now make me look like an amateur when she uses them.
Fits like a glove
They're a little hard to get on at first but I use some dish soap and they slide right on. I used the sizing chart to get medium large and it's spot on. Once they're on they fit perfectly. I was using them to make swimming laps more of a resistance exercise instead of just an aerobic one and it definitely seems to work. I seem to swim a lot faster too, so I'm sure they work great for snorkeling. I'll take them to the Bahamas and see if I can get lobster from a little deeper than everyone else.

I am really enjoying these gloves. They are tight but talcum powder helps in putting them on. The gloves feel very secure while paddling (not sliding around), and the tackiness they have helps in gripping my surfboard while going under waves. I am looking forward to using them this Winter when the swells increase in size.

Second time buying this. Product works very well and does exactly what it is designed to do. I usually appreciate these the most when I need to get out of the way of the next set wave and wouldn't get the traction in the aerated water after a falling or getting stuck inside. Shipping was quick too.

This summers waves near Auckland NZ have been terrible so Ive only used the gloves a few times but they definitely increased my paddle power and speed. Im looking forward to giving them a proper test soon once we get some decent waves. Im confident that they will help with wave count and competitiveness. The only downside is that they make you look like evil spiderman or a Batman / Aquaman cross so you’re sure to get attention in the water. Hopefully that helps with sales ;-)

This is my second pair as the first size I ordered was basically for a child even tho it's measurements said it would fit. So order a size larger.
I use them for river surfing in Alberta.
They're nice gloves, I wouldn't say they offer a ton of protection from the cold but it's better than nothing. They're strong & durable & increase your paddling huge.

They take a few minutes to put on, but it is well worth the wait. I have found that, when I doing a stroke (such as the breast stroke) in which I need to bring my hands forward, the webbed gloves allow me to clench my hands and reduce resistance. These gloves work my arm muscles into a burn unlike anything I have ever used.
As for the tearing that I have read about: I apply a prodigious amount of talc on the inside, and after a month they show no signs of shredding.

A friend recently offered me a hand out free pair, and I refused them because mine are still fine and those will do better with another owner!!! They were fantastic gloves
I agree with this review. I wore the gloves during the Spartan Ultra Beast 24 Hour World Championship in Iceland and as for their grip capabilities, they were fantastic. I could grip ropes, chains, wood, webbing, and spears in raining and snowy conditions, no problem. But after a few hours my hands got cold and I added a mitten shell. All became right in my world again with warm hands. I just took the shells off to complete the obstacles. Overall these gloves are a MUST for obstacle racing.
Good gear truly makes a difference.
My husband got me into freediving a few years ago. He bought me all the gear. Leader Carbon Fins, a 5 Mm Open cell wetsuit, a Omer Zero3 mask, and a pair of Darkfin Gloves. I didn't know what to think at first because everybody else had the rest of my gear but only a few people had the webbed gloves. It was not long before i was diving comfortably to 76ft deep. I know that good gear does not necessarily make a good diver. But good gear truly makes a difference.

Ok so, I accidentally ordered twice somehow back to back. I contacted Andrew to ask about the return policy and he was very helpful and said no problem as long as I’m happy. Great policy. As for the gloves, I was swimming against the tide and still making headway like a fish in the water. Made swimming more fun. I suggest everyone have a pair for tropical vacations and snorkeling. They also made me more comfortable touching things underwater I normally wouldn’t. They’re awesome!
Think Outside the Box
OK here's the deal. I love these gloves but it's been a rocky road. The first several pairs blew out early. There's a design flaw. The webbing is on the back of the hand, which means the stress point is between the thumb and fore finger. So the gloves kept ripping at the seam. You would expect that since that is the weakest point in the construction. After noodling on the issue a while it dawned on me that what had to happen was that the stress points had to be protected. I tried several strategies but let's just say keep it simple stupid. I decided to wear the gloves on opposite hands so the webbing is now on the palm side. It takes a little getting used to because the gloves are engineered to be worn on like a glove. Fortunately the material stretches over time and forms to the hand well. Now I have putter 500 miles on the last pair with no sign of seam failure. Previously I was fortunately to get 100 miles on a pair. So if you're going to order these either order a bunch of them or simply wear them on the opposite hand. Enjoy.
