After some feedback from a few of our users we designed a Forward Webbing Glove, If you are a Hardcore Surfer or a Long Distance Swimmer then you will benefit from the longevity of the Forward Webbing.

Pros: The Forward placement helps distribute the extra stress that occurs on the webbing between the pointer finger and the thumb, Avoiding the blowout that occasionally happens to the hardiest of users.

Cons: After much testing we discovered that the Original webbing directs the water better, so it is more powerful than the FWD. We personally only use the original model during our diving and surfing adventures.

If you are a Hardcore Surfer or Long Distance Swimmer then you will benefit from the forward webbing. But again in all Honesty we only use the Original Darkfin. Each FWD is made to order so please allow a 5-6 manufacturing time delay.

You gotta think outside the box on these.  5.0 out of 5 stars

Size: Men XX-Large Verified Purchase

OK here's the deal. I love these gloves but it's been a rocky road. The first several pairs blew out early. There's a design flaw. The webbing is on the back of the hand, which means the stress point is between the thumb and fore finger. So the gloves kept ripping at the seam. You would expect that since that is the weakest point in the construction. After noodling on the issue a while it dawned on me that what had to happen was that the stress points had to be protected. I tried several strategies but let's just say keep it simple stupid. I decided to wear the gloves on opposite hands so the webbing is now on the palm side. It takes a little getting used to because the gloves are engineered to be worn on like a glove. Fortunately the material stretches over time and forms to the hand well. Now I have putter 500 miles on the last pair with no sign of seam failure. Previously I was fortunately to get 100 miles on a pair. So if you're going to order these either order a bunch of them or simply wear them on the opposite hand. Enjoy.

So here's what might be one of the most interesting reviews you've read in a while.  5.0 out of 5 stars

So here's what might be one of the most interesting reviews you've read in a while. I bought these gloves several years ago. I swim a lot. I had polio as an infant and have no use of my lower extremities. Wow! Just what I need a well-made glove that significantly increased my workout. End of story. Right? Not quite. The first pair I bought blew out at the thumb and index finger seam. Same with the second. When I contacted the company they sent me a replacement. After that, I figured out that if I reversed the gloves putting the webbing on the inside rather than the outside the gloves lasted forever. Reversing the gloves took the pressure off the seam and solved the problem. But that's not the end of the story. After posting my review and telling others about my find I had over 70 people who indicated that the review was helpful. When the folks at Darkfin saw that response they contacted me to say that based on that response they were prototyping a new design with the web in front and. would I be available to try the new design? I got the new gloves a few weeks ago and have been using them a lot. Needless to say, they nailed it. The new design is a significant improvement over the "web behind" model. But even that isn't the whole story. This isn't a story about the new design as much as it is a story about outrageously great customer service. What more could a customer possibly ask for? A company that stands behind their product and constantly strive for improved products is exactly the kind of company I want to do business with. Money well spent. I know you will agree.

The finest, high-performance water propulsion and paddle glove on the planet! Period.

We love this planet, and we love our oceans, thats why every set of gloves is hand made with 100% Biodegradable, Non-Toxic, Materials.

This is the original webbed glove, handmade and purpose built to enhance your aquatic sports experience. Used by World Surfing League champions, Guinness World Record divers, pioneers of whitewater river boarding, and thousands of freedivers, surfers, scuba enthusiasts, snorkelers, swimmers, and kayakers the world over. It’s like nothing you’ve ever used before, even if you’ve used other webbed gloves! What makes a Darkfin Power Glove paddle power so superior to the competition? Three main features:

Nano Cellular Bonding Process
Like other products made by Black Lagoon, the entire glove, including the webbing, is made from 100% true natural latex. Why latex? It gives Darkfin Gloves several advantages: Ultra-thin, .9mil “second skin” fit to keep water out, natural biodegradability (we hate beach and ocean trash too), and most importantly; it’s what allowed us to develop our exclusive Nano Cellular Bonding process. Nano Cellular Bonding - or NCB - is how we attach the webbing to the glove. It allows for a seamless, non-adhesive bonding at the cellular level, resulting in no structural weak points like a conventional stitched or glued on web.

3-D Webbing Profile
By using our Nano Cellular Bonding process we’re able to affix the webbing to the back of the glove to create the only 3-D web profile in the business. This exclusive design allows for a whopping 70% increase in surface area compared to using your bare hand for propulsion! Since the 3-D webbing is made of latex and bonded to the glove, it’s able to move with your fingers allowing you to vary the resistance level of the glove. This makes the Darkfin Power glove visibly and mechanically superior to gloves that use either injection molding or adhesive to connect the webbing between the fingers only.

Cotton Flocked Finish
One of the most inconvenient aspects of wearing gloves is the loss of dexterity. Manipulating small mechanical parts can be cumbersome, achieving and maintaining a solid grip challenging, and forget about tactile feedback. Not with Darkfin Gloves! We start with an ultra thin latex glove for maximum sensitivity and then add our exclusive Cotton Flock Finish to the entire surface of the glove. The cotton fibers embed themselves in the latex - and when activated with water - provide superb grip.

Finally, we know one size doesn’t fit all. Hands are a lot like feet and 3 sizes won’t fit everyone. Darkfin Power Gloves are offered in an industry leading 12 different sizes! We make gloves to fit the most petite female hands, to beefy lumberjack paws. We’ve even got a few for the kids as well! No water propulsion glove manufacturer offers more sizes than Darkfin. Made in USA

Tip: If you're concerned about water entering the glove at the wrist, we recommend trying the next size down. The glove is supposed to fit tight but not uncomfortable!

New Forward Webbing Gloves

I purchased the new forward webbing gloves from Darkfin and while I like the product there is a fitment problem. The size chart showed me being a large, however, the large gloves were way to loose. Darkfin allowed me to purchase a pair of Medium-Large for only the shipping cost which is why I give Darkfin 5 stars for customer service. The Medium-Large fit perfectly on my left hand, but the right hand glove is to loose on the third and pinky finger. These gloves need to fit snugly or they slop around on the fingers and this becomes annoying during a long swim. The fitment problem is the only reason, so far, for not giving them a 5 star rating. If the next pair I purchase fits better I will revisit my review. That review will include how well they hold up over time, as well.
